Industry Consultant.The Woodlands, TX. January 2004 to present. Provide consulting services to major animal health companies in the U.S. , the National Pork Board and a pork production companies.

Technical Services Veterinarian, ADViSYS, Inc.The Woodlands, TX. July 2002 to January 2004.  Conducted research for new biotechnology and marketed to swine production companies in Australia , Asia, North America and South America

Vice President of Swine Applications, MetaFarms Inc.  Eagan , MN. September 2000 to July 2002.  Worked as part of management team to assess the needs of target customers in the pork industry and to create a vision for a suite of information technologies to meet those needs.

Director of Pork Development, E-Markets Inc.Ames , Iowa . September 1999 to August 2000. Directed the creation of internet based applications for the pork industry. 

Assistant Professor of Swine Production Medicine, Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Ames , Iowa . July 1998 to September 1999. Teaching, research and extension appointment.  Taught orientation to swine production medicine to first year veterinary students. Taught introductory and advanced production medicine to fourth year veterinary students.  Research topics included identification of risk factors for PRRS and impact of semen age on reproductive performance.  Extension activities included consulting on health and production issues with practicing veterinarians, as well as swine production, swine genetics and pharmaceutical companies. 

Swine Veterinarian/Service Manager, Browns of Carolina. Warsaw , North Carolina . June 1997 to July 1998. Managed 11,200 sows on 6 farrow-to-feeder farms.  Performed veterinary diagnostics and directed the use of antimicrobials, vaccines and other therapeutics.

Positions Held

 

June 2002 to Present, Director of Sow Production Christensen Family Farms.  Oversight and direction of commercial sow production in Minnesota , Northern Iowa and Nebraska . This included the leadership of the sow service team, achievement of fiscal and production targets, and overall management of resources to farms totaling +75,000 sows.

March 2000 to June 2002, Director of Veterinary Services Christensen Family Farms.  Coordination of veterinary resources.  This included budget oversight, vendor negotiation and establishment of consultant veterinarian relationships consistent with production needs.

January 1998 to March 2000, Director of Veterinary Services Land O' Lakes Swine Production Division.  Coordination of all veterinary resources for the Swine Production Division.  This included budget oversight, vendor negotiation, and establishment of consultant veterinarian relationships consistent with production needs.

May 1990 to August 1992, Histo-compatibility Technician University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics Organ Transplant Compatibility work. Solid organ and bone marrow.
